Underride Accident in Newburg Claims Life of Woman

NEWBURG, Md. — A fatal crash occurred Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2025, when a vehicle became trapped beneath a UPS tractor-trailer at a busy intersection in Newburg, authorities confirmed.

The collision took place around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Crain Highway (U.S. Route 301) and Rock Point Road. Emergency dispatch records indicate the vehicle went underneath the trailer of the semi-truck, causing severe entrapment and fatal injuries.

First responders arrived to find the car lodged under the trailer. Medics pronounced the driver dead at 2:51 p.m., and the incident was classified as a “Priority 4” fatality. Tactical command operations were concluded shortly thereafter.

Personnel from Rescue Engine 14, multiple medic units, and command staff responded to the scene. Crews remained for over an hour to manage the scene and support the investigation.

The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released, pending notification of family. No additional injuries were reported.

The UPS tractor-trailer remained at the scene as law enforcement and crash reconstruction teams began their investigation. The cause of the crash is still under review.

Crain Highway northbound at Rock Point Road is currently closed. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect significant delays.
