Born and raised in Baltimore County, Joe attended Towson University, graduating with honors. Following graduation, he spent two years as an elementary school teacher in New York City, before returning home to attend law school at the University of Maryland.
While in law school, Joe completed internships at the Office of the Public Defender, the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, as well as the Criminal Appeals Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office. Starting in his third year of law school, Joe took night classes while working during the day as a Law Clerk in the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office.
After graduating law school in 2013, Joe was admitted to the Maryland Bar later that same year, and was then promoted to Assistant State’s Attorney in the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office. In this role, Joe prosecuted thousands of cases, both jury and bench trials, including drugs, assaults, DUI/DWI, thefts, incarcerable traffic, as well as many other types of criminal cases.
Joe joined Zirkin & Schmerling Law in 2015 with the primary focus of handling District Court automobile accident cases. He brings with him the knowledge and tools acquired as a prosecutor to fight for his clients every day.
Joe is an active member of his community, serving on the board of his synagogue, as well as coaching various youth sports programs in the area. He is an active member of the following organizations:
