Originally from Woodbridge, Virginia, Ryan received his B.A. from James Madison University before joining the Peace Corps in 2008, where he served as volunteer in a small rural farming village in the Republic of Panama. While in Panama, Ryan upgraded the village’s drinking water system and installed composting latrines to reduce vector-borne illness and improve overall community health. Ryan also taught English and implemented a village counsel to manage future community issues.
Ryan moved to Baltimore in 2011 to attend law school at the University of Baltimore on a scholarship. He participated in a clerkship at the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City, successfully prosecuting various criminal cases. Ryan was also a competing member of the National Trial Competition team at the University of Baltimore, where he learned advanced trial techniques and competed in multiple national mock trial competitions.

After graduating law school and gaining admittance to Maryland Bar, Ryan joined a firm doing Plaintiff work, represented victims of lead paint poisoning, and managed hundreds of active cases. Ryan worked as part of a team of litigation attorneys that recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for their clients.
